Even after a cold reset, the restarting screen is always displayed.
This is a simple fix for this problem, perhaps not typical, but my Shift key was stuck down and I could not reboot or get through the start Ctrl alt delete. I had Windows 2012 R2 stuck at reboot with the spinner spinning with the screen pictured in the question. When I logged back in, I saw that the server uptime was still more than a couple minutes.
Microsoft is unveiling some changes to the way Windows Updates are applied to Windows 10 PCs with the upcoming Creators Update.
Their windows 10 laptop even in sleep mode is getting restarted for making the changes into account for updates.
Now, this can be problematic as many user while travelling keep their laptops in sleep mode and in this case, they have no control on their PC, as it will reboot and will be turned on and will keep eating battery in the process, which they haven’t expected in sleep mode.
Sometimes, however, when the patch, or maybe even service pack, is being installed during shutdown or startup, the update installation gets stuck - freezes, locks up, stops, hangs, clocks... Windows Update is taking forever and it's time to fix the problem.
The installation of one or more Windows updates is probably stuck or frozen if you see one of the following messages persist for a long time: is all you'll see on the screen.
Tip: If you're feeling particularly brave, or have never had problems with Windows updates before, try installing updates together as a group, something that I've also had a lot of success with. NET updates of a particular version together, all of the operating system security updates together, etc.
